Claudius was the 4th Roman Emperor and the father of Emperor Nero. During his reign, Paul powerfully carried out his missionary journeys.

At this time, Agabus prophesied that there would be a great famine.

Acts 11:28One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.)

He also persecuted Jews and expelled them from Rome.

Acts 18:1After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.Acts 18:2There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them,Acts 18:3and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.
