After Moses led the Exodus, he appointed leaders for each tribe, and Nethanel was responsible for leading the tribe of Issachar.
Num 1:1The Lord spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said:Num 1:2“Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.Num 1:3You and Aaron are to number all the men twenty years old or more who are able to serve in the army of Israel, company by company.Num 1:4One man from each tribe, each the head of his family, is to help you.
Num 2:5The tribe next to them will be Issachar. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar.Num 2:6His division numbers 54,400.
Num 7:23and for the fellowship offering, two oxen, five rams, five male goats and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Nethanel son of Zuar.
Num 10:15Nethanel son of Zuar was commander of the tribal army of the Issacharites.
