Person
This document is about Mahath (Levite in the time of Hezekiah). For other homonyms, please refer to the Mahath document.

He was one of the Levites who supported Hezekiah's policies during the time of Hezekiah (King of Judah) and resolved to consecrate themselves and serve God.

2 Chr 29:11My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and to burn incense.2 Chr 29:12Then the Levites arose: from the sons of Kohath, Mahath the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah; from the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and from the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah.

Coincidentally, this Mahath's father was also Amasai, just like the other Mahath (son of Amasai).

He may be the same person as Mahath (Temple Overseer).
