📍Beth-shean

Place

One of the Canaanite regions, allocated to the tribe of Ephraim. Joshua (son of Nun) allocated the region with strong enemies to the tribe of Ephraim because their strength was mighty, telling them to fight and conquer it.

Thereupon, the people of the tribe of Ephraim complained that it was difficult to conquer because the native inhabitants had iron chariots.

Josh 17:16The descendants of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shean and its villages and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”
