Abimelech, son of Gideon, passed through this place when he attacked Shechem.
Judges 9:48Abimelech and all the people with him went up to Mount Salmon. Abimelech took an axe in his hand and cut off a branch from a tree, lifted it up, and laid it on his shoulder. He said to the people with him, “What you have seen me do, do quickly as I have done.”Judges 9:49So all the people also cut down each a branch and followed Abimelech and put them on the stronghold, and set fire to the stronghold with them. So all the people in the tower of Shechem died, about a thousand men and women.
It is not clear whether Salmon in Psalm 68 is the same place.
