Shabbethai was a Levite who helped the leaders in Jerusalem during the period of return from exile.
First, at that time, there were many people in Jerusalem who had intermarried with foreigners. Ezra rebuked them and demanded that they break off their marital relationships. Shabbethai was one of the people who helped with this task.
