Esther 1:10On the seventh day, when the king’s heart was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Sethar, and Carkas, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus,Esther 1:11to bring Queen Vashti before the king with her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was lovely to behold.Esther 1:12But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by the eunuchs. At this the king became furious, and his anger burned within him.Esther 1:13Then the king consulted with the wise men who understood the times, for it was customary for the king to consult with those skilled in law and justice.Esther 1:14Those closest to him were Carshena, Sethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media who had access to the king and sat in the highest positions in the kingdom.
