Abishai was one of Zeruiah's three sons and a famous general during the time of King David.
2 Samuel 2:18Asahel pursued Abner); and in going he didn’t turn to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.
1 Chronicles 2:15and their sisters were Zeruiah) and Abigail. The sons of Zeruiah: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three.1 Chronicles 2:16Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.

Leave him alone, and let him curse; for Yahweh has invited him.2 Samuel 16:11It may be that Yahweh will look on the wrong done to me, and that Yahweh will repay me good for the cursing of me today.”
2 Samuel 19:21David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be adversaries to me today? Shall any man be put to death today in Israel)? For don’t I know that I am king over Israel today?”2 Samuel 19:22The king said to Shimei, “You will not die.” The king swore to him.2 Samuel 19:23Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

아비새는 에돔과의 전투에서 1만 8000명을 쳐 죽였다.

이후 암몬과의 전투에도 참여하였다.
1 Chronicles 19:11He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.1 Chronicles 19:12Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May Yahweh do that which seems good to him.”1 Chronicles 19:13So Joab and the people who were with him came near to the front of the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.1 Chronicles 19:14When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.1 Chronicles 19:15When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers, and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

Take your lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”2 Samuel 20:6Joab’s men went out after him, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri.
다윗이 마지막으로 직접 참전한 전투에서 블레셋 거인 이스비브놉에게 죽임을 당할 뻔했는데, 아비새가 다윗을 도와 그를 무찔렀다.
2 Samuel 21:15and Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of bronze in weight, he being armed with a new sword, thought he would kill David.2 Samuel 21:16But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David) swore to him, saying, “Don’t go out with us to battle any more, so that you don’t quench the lamp of Israel.”2 Samuel 21:17After this, there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.
