He was one of Gideon's sons.

When his other brother, Abimelech, killed the remaining 70 brothers, he miraculously escaped and survived, and cursed Abimelech and the inhabitants of Shechem.

Judges 9:5He went to his father’s house in Ophrah and killed his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerubbaal, on one stone, but Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, hid himself and was left.Judges 9:6Then all the citizens of Shechem and all the house of Millo gathered and went and made Abimelech king by the oak of the pillar at Shechem.Judges 9:7When Jotham was told about it, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, “Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.
Judges 9:21Jotham fled from his brother Abimelech and escaped to Beer, where he lived.
Judges 9:57God also repaid all the evil of the citizens of Shechem on their own heads, and the curse of Jotham, the son of Jerubbaal, came upon them.
