The Euphrates River is the birthplace of ancient civilization. In the Bible, it is recorded as one of the four rivers flowing from the Garden of Eden.

Gen 2:14The name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

God promised Abraham that his descendants would multiply, and he spoke of the Euphrates River as the boundary for his children.

Gen 15:18On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates—”

Later, during the time of David and Solomon, their influence extended to this region.

2 Sam 8:3David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob), king of Zobah), when he went to restore his dominion over the Euphrates River.
2 Chr 9:26Solomon ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon conquered this entire region.

2 Kings 24:7The king of Egypt did not come out of his country again, for the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt from the River of Egypt to the River Euphrates.

In the Book of Revelation, it is said to release the four angels bound at the great river Euphrates.

Rev 9:14It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”
