The first mention appears as beings guarding the Tree of Life after Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden after they sinned.
Genesis 3:24So he drove out the man; and he placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

에스겔(선지자)가 환상중에 이 그룹의 모습을 보았는데, 사람, 사자, 소, 독수리의 네 얼굴과 네 날개가 있다는 기록과, 두 얼굴이 있다는 기록이 있다.
Ezekiel 1:6Their feet were straight feet. The sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like burnished bronze.Ezekiel 1:7They had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides. Ezekiel 41:18so that there was the face of a man toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side. It was made like this through all the house all around.
