A Levite and a descendant of Merari. He served as a temple gatekeeper during the time of David.
1 Chr 26:10Also to Hosah), of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (though he was not the firstborn, his father made him chief),1 Chr 26:11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hosah) were thirteen.1 Chr 26:12Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the house of the Lord.
