Lot was the son of Haran (Terah's son) and the nephew of Abraham.
Genesis 11:26Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Genesis 13:1Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.Genesis 13:2He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel), to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,Genesis 13:3to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”Genesis 13:9Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.Genesis 13:10So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one other.Genesis 13:11Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.Genesis 13:12Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.Genesis 13:13Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

Genesis 19:1and he said, “See now, my lords, please come into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”Genesis 19:2He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.Genesis 19:3But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.Genesis 19:4They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”Genesis 19:5Lot went out to them through the door, and shut the door after himself.Genesis 19:6He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.Genesis 19:7See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”Genesis 19:8They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and came near to break the door.Genesis 19:9But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.Genesis 19:10They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.Genesis 19:11The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:Genesis 19:12for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown so great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”Genesis 19:13Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.Genesis 19:14When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”
도망하는 과정중에 롯의 아내는 뒤를 돌아보았기에 소금기둥이 되었고, 소알로 피했던 롯과 두 딸은 두려움에 다시 산으로 올라가 동굴에서 지냈다.
그 딸들은 자신들의 후손을 위해 롯에게 술을 먹이고 동침하여 자녀들을 낳았는데 각각 모압 족속과 암몬 족속의 조상이 되었다.
Genesis 19:30The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.Genesis 19:31Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”Genesis 19:32They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose.Genesis 19:33It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let’s make him drink wine again tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”Genesis 19:34They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.Genesis 19:35Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.Genesis 19:36The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.Genesis 19:37The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.Genesis 19:38The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
