Micah 1:1Hear, you peoples, all of you. Listen, O earth, and all that is therein: and let the Lord Yahweh be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
그는 요담(유다왕), 아하스와 히스기야(유다왕) 시기에 활동을 했으며, 아버지에 대해 알려지지 않은 것으로 보아 그리 유력한 가문 출신이 아닌 것으로 추정된다. 이 시기는 이사야(선지자), 아모스(선지자), 호세아(선지자)가 활동했던 시기이기도 하다.
Micah 7:12Yet the land will be desolate because of those who dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
또하나, 여호야김왕 때 제사장들과 거짓 선지자들이 예레미야(선지자)를 죽이려고 했을 때 몇몇 장로들이 미가의 예언을 언급했고, 이로 인해 예레미야는 죽음을 면할 수 있었다.
Jeremiah 26:17“Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “ ‘Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’Jeremiah 26:18Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Didn’t he fear Yahweh, and entreat the favor of Yahweh, and Yahweh relented of the disaster which he had pronounced against them? We would commit great evil against our own souls that way!”Jeremiah 26:19There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 26:24But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they didn’t give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
