Gerasa (Gerasenes) is one of the regions around the Sea of Galilee. It is where Jesus healed the man possessed by a legion of demons.
Luke 8:26Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.Luke 8:27When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a man from the town who was possessed by demons. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.
Matthew's Gospel records it as Gadara. It also states that there were two demon-possessed men in this place.
Matthew 8:28When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
