Type: person

One of the adversaries who hindered Nehemiah (governor) from rebuilding the wall.

Neh 2:19When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they ridiculed us and despised us and said, “What is this thing you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
Neh 6:1Now when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall and that no gap was left in it—though at that time I had not set up the doors in the gates—Neh 6:2Sanballat and Geshem sent word to me, saying, “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they intended to do me harm.

Also recorded as Gashmu.

Neh 6:6In it was written, “It is reported among the nations, and Gashmu also says, that you and the Jews are planning to rebel; and for this reason you are rebuilding the wall, and you intend to be their king.
