📍Kittim

Place

Kittim refers to the place name "Kition" located on the island of "Cyprus." However, it later expanded to represent the Aegean region or the Roman region to which it belonged.

In Genesis, it is the name of one of Javan's four sons, and later came to mean the region where his descendants lived.

Gen 10:4The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
1 Chr 1:7The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

Initially, because the Phoenicians built Kition (Kittim) on Cyprus, Kittim referred to the island of Cyprus or its inhabitants.

Isa 23:1A prophecy against Tyre: Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Kittim the news has reached them.
Isa 23:12He said, "You oppressed Virgin Daughter of Sidon, you will rejoice no more. Arise, cross over to Kittim; even there you will find no rest."
Ezek 27:6Of oaks from Bashan they made your oars; of cypress wood from the coasts of Kittim they made your deck, inlaid with ivory.

Later, the island regions of the Aegean Sea or the Roman Empire were called Kittim.

Jer 2:10Cross over to the coasts of Kittim and look, send to Kedar and consider carefully; see if there has ever been anything like this.
Dan 11:30For ships of Kittim will come against him, and he will be disheartened. Then he will turn back and vent his fury against the holy covenant. He will return and show favor to those who forsake the holy covenant.
