Kittim refers to the place name "Kition" located on the island of "Cyprus." However, it later expanded to represent the Aegean region or the Roman region to which it belonged.
In Genesis, it is the name of one of Javan's four sons, and later came to mean the region where his descendants lived.
Initially, because the Phoenicians built Kition (Kittim) on Cyprus, Kittim referred to the island of Cyprus or its inhabitants.
Isa 23:1A prophecy against Tyre: Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Kittim the news has reached them.

Later, the island regions of the Aegean Sea or the Roman Empire were called Kittim.
