The queen of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt during the time of Solomon. At that time, Solomon turned away from God by worshipping idols, and God raised up several adversaries to discipline him. One of them was Hadad. When Hadad took refuge in Egypt, Pharaoh gave him his sister-in-law, Tahpenes's sister, as his wife.

1 Kings 11:17Hadad was then a small child; he fled with some Edomite officials of his father to go to Egypt.1 Kings 11:18They set out from Midian and went to Paran. Taking men with them from Paran, they went to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave Hadad a house and food and land.1 Kings 11:19Hadad found great favor in the eyes of Pharaoh, who gave him in marriage the sister of his own wife, Queen Tahpenes.1 Kings 11:20The sister of Tahpenes bore him a son named Genubath, whom Tahpenes brought up in Pharaoh’s palace. So Genubath lived in Pharaoh’s palace among Pharaoh’s own children.1 Kings 11:21While Hadad was in Egypt, he heard that David rested with his ancestors and that Joab the commander of the army was dead. So Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Let me go, that I may return to my own country.”
