Timothy was one of Apostle Paul's faithful co-workers. He was also the recipient of Paul's epistles, 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy. 
### Timothy's Family Background He was from the Lystra region, with a Greek father and a Jewish mother. He had not been circumcised, but he was circumcised so that it would not be an obstacle to preaching the gospel to the Jews.
Acts 16:1The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.Acts 16:2Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek.Acts 16:3As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.
