Sadducees were one of the groups that existed among the Jews around the time Jesus was active.
It is presumed that their core members were descendants of Zadok, the high priest during the time of King David. Most of them were high priests and their relatives, as well as conservative and secularized vested interests in Jewish society. It is said that they did not believe in resurrection or angels, and were only interested in worldly success and advancement.
Another group that rivaled them in leading the Jews were the Pharisees. They were fundamentalist forces who strictly adhered to the law, cooperating in maintaining "vested interests" but having severe conflicts in their daily lives and faith.
One peculiar point is that while the Bible records Pharisees who became Christians,
there is no record of Sadducees who became Christians.
The Sadducees disappeared after the war between A.D. 66-70.
