He was the 15th king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, but his reign lasted only one month.

During the time of Zechariah (King of Northern Israel), a descendant of Jehu (King of Northern Israel), he rebelled, killed Zechariah, and became king. However, he was later killed by Menahem.
2 Kings 15:8In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria for six months.2 Kings 15:9He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done. He did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin.2 Kings 15:10Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him and struck him down in public and reigned in his place.2 Kings 15:11Now the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.2 Kings 15:12This was the word of the Lord that he spoke to Jehu: “Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” And so it came to pass.2 Kings 15:13Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned for one month in Samaria.2 Kings 15:14Then Menahem the son of Gadi
