He was the 15th king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, but his reign lasted only one month.

During the time of Zechariah (King of Northern Israel), a descendant of Jehu (King of Northern Israel), he rebelled, killed Zechariah, and became king. However, he was later killed by Menahem.

2 Kings 15:8In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria for six months.2 Kings 15:9He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done.
