[See Twelve Disciples] Andrew was one of Jesus' twelve disciples. He was the biological brother of Peter and a fisherman in Galilee before meeting Jesus. Both Peter and Andrew were disciples of John the Baptist, but after hearing John the Baptist recognize Jesus as the Messiah, they are depicted as following Jesus.
John 1:35and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”John 1:36The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.John 1:37Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”John 1:38He said to them, “Come, and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day.
