Ophir is a region mentioned in the Old Testament, particularly noted as a place rich in gold.
Son of Joktan
Eber, the great-grandson of Shem, begot Peleg and Joktan. Among them, Peleg later became an ancestor of Abraham. And Ophir is the son of Joktan, another descendant of Shem.
It is presumed that the region where they settled was rich in gold.
A man of the Ishmaelite tribe
He was the person who managed the king's camels during the time of King David.
City of Gold
During the reign of King Solomon, 430 talents of gold were obtained from this place, which is an enormous amount, approximately 16 tons. Given that not only gold but also many precious stones were brought, it can be inferred that it was a region rich in precious metal minerals.
Furthermore, in various scriptures, it is often used to refer to a very wealthy region, or material wealth itself.
