One of the leaders of the Hebrew people during the Return from Babylonian Captivity.

Ezra 2:19the descendants of Hasum, 223;
Nehemiah 7:22the descendants of Hasum, 328;

He stood beside Ezra (the scribe) when he taught the Scriptures.

Nehemiah 8:4And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and on his left hand Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hasum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

He was also one of those who resolved to be holy before God and participated in the sealing.
