Baasha was the third king of the Kingdom of Northern Israel. He became king after destroying the house of Jeroboam I. [See Genealogy of the Kingdom of Israel] The first dynasty of the Kingdom of Northern Israel was started by Jeroboam I, but due to idolatry, God declared the destruction of his house, and Baasha, who belonged to the tribe of Issachar, fulfilled this prophecy.
