When Zimri (King of Northern Israel) died, the people of the kingdom of Israel were divided into two, vying for the throne. One side followed Dibni, and the other side followed Omri.
Ultimately, Omri won.
1 Kings 16:20As for the other events of Zimri’s reign, and the treason he committed, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?1 Kings 16:21Then the people of Israel were divided into two factions; half of the people followed Tibni son of Ginath in an attempt to make him king, and the other half followed Omri.1 Kings 16:22But the people who followed Omri proved stronger than those who followed Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.
