2 Chr 23:1In the seventh year Jehoiada took courage and entered into a covenant with the commanders of hundreds: Azariah son of Jeroham (father of Azariah)), Ishmael son of Jehohanan (father of Ishmael)), Azariah son of Obed (father of Azariah)), Maaseiah son of Adaiah (father of Maaseiah)), and Elishaphat son of Zichri (father of Elishaphat)).2 Chr 23:2They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites from all the towns of Judah and the heads of families of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.2 Chr 23:3The whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. Jehoiada said to them, “The king’s son shall reign, as the Lord promised concerning the descendants of David.2 Chr 23:4This is what you are to do: A third of you, priests and Levites, who are on duty on the Sabbath, are to act as gatekeepers;2 Chr 23:5a third are to be at the palace; and a third at the Foundation Gate. All the other people are to be in the courtyards of the house of the Lord.
