Ezion-geber was an ancient port. King Solomon built large ships here and used it as a central port for trade.

It was also a region where the Israelites encamped during the Exodus.

Num 33:35They departed from Abronah and encamped at Ezion-geber.Num 33:36They departed from Ezion-geber and encamped in the Wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.
Deut 2:8So we passed by from our brothers the sons of Esau, who live in Seir, by the way of the Arabah to Elath and Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

Later, ancient Israelite kings also built ships here and used them for trade.

2 Chr 20:36He joined with him to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.
2 Chr 8:17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and Eloth on the seacoast in the land of Edom.
1 Kgs 9:26King Solomon also built a fleet of ships in Ezion-geber, which is near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.
1 Kgs 22:48Jehoshaphat) made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they were broken at Ezion-geber and could not go.
