📦Hanukkah

Thing

Hanukkah (Feast of Dedication) is a festival commemorating the purification of the defiled temple. It does not appear in the Bible but commemorates events that occurred between the Old and New Testaments.

At that time, Antiochus IV defiled the temple by sacrificing a pig on the temple altar. This day commemorates the recapture and restoration of the temple through the Maccabean Revolt.

In Hebrew, it is called Hanukkah.

John 10:22At Jerusalem the Feast of Dedication took place. It was winter,John 10:23and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s Portico.John 10:24So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense?
