Esther 2:5Now in the citadel of Susa there was a Jew whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, son of Shimei, son of Kish, a Benjaminite,Esther 2:6who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away, together with Jeconiah king of Judah.Esther 2:7He was bringing up Hadassah, that is Esther, his uncle's daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The young woman was lovely in form and beautiful in appearance, and when her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.
