One of the influential families of the tribe of Ephraim who stood against King Pekah of the Northern Kingdom of Israel when he invaded the Southern Kingdom of Judah and brought back 200,000 captives, requesting their return.

2 Chr 28:12Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,2 Chr 28:13and said to them, “You shall not bring the captives in here, for you intend to bring guilt upon us before the Lord, adding to our sins and our guilt. For our guilt is already great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”
