📌Felix

Person

Felix was the governor during Paul's last visit to Jerusalem. He was married to a Jewish woman.

Acts 24:24Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.

In a situation where the Jews, including the high priest, sought to kill Paul, Felix protected Paul by imprisoning him.

Acts 23:23Then he called two of the centurions and said, “Get ready two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night.”Acts 23:24He also told them to provide mounts for Paul so that he could be taken safely to Governor Felix.

Afterward, he imprisoned Paul and listened to both the Jews who accused him and Paul's testimony, and even heard the gospel from Paul. Though his heart was pricked by the gospel, he did not accept it and kept Paul imprisoned for two years.

Acts 24:22But Felix, having a more accurate knowledge of the Way, adjourned the hearing, saying, “When the commander Lysias comes down, I will decide your case.”Acts 24:23Then he ordered the centurion to keep Paul in custody but to let him have some freedom and not to prevent any of his friends from attending to his needs.Acts 24:24Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.Acts 24:25As Paul discussed righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”Acts 24:26At the same time he hoped that Paul would offer him money, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.Acts 24:27When two years had passed, Porcius Festus succeeded Felix, and because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.
