📍Caesarea

Place

가이사랴.jpg

Caesarea is a port city in northern Israel, distinct from Caesarea Philippi.

Originally a small town, Herod the Great expanded and rebuilt it into an artificial port city, after which he named it Caesarea.

Herod built such a large port city because Israel had no ports other than Dor in the north and Joppa, and there was no port in the region close to Rome between them. Through this port, he aimed to quickly receive Roman culture and export agricultural products from Samaria to Rome, thereby showcasing his name.

Acts 11:11Just then three men arrived at the house where I was staying, sent to me from Caesarea.
