This is the place where Jacob (son of Isaac) bought land from Hamor in the Shechem (place name) region after returning to Canaan, and pitched his tent.
Gen 33:18Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan-aram, and he encamped before the city.Gen 33:19And he bought the parcel of land where he had pitched his tent from the hand of the sons of Hamor, Shechem's father, for a hundred qesitahs.Gen 33:20There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.
