An ancient city in Mesopotamia, currently in the region of Iraq. It is also the hometown of Abraham. God called Abraham, who was living there, out of that place.
Abraham's father Terah led his family and left this place, moving to Haran, and after Terah died there, Abraham moved again to the land of Canaan.
This place is one of the oldest urban civilizations in history. The photo below shows the appearance of a ziggurat remaining as ruins in the Ur region.
