The region through which Pishon, one of the four rivers flowing from the Garden of Eden, passed.

Gen 2:10A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.Gen 2:11The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.Gen 2:12And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there.

However, after Noah's flood, the exact location of the Pishon River is unknown. Later, the region of Havilah seems to refer to the area near Shur (place name).

Gen 25:18They settled from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite Asshur on the way to Egypt. They lived in opposition to all their kinsmen.

In later times, Saul (king) is also said to have attacked the Amalekites in this region.

1 Sam 15:7Saul struck the Amalekites from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt.
