Shur is the name of a region near Egypt. It is also recorded as Sur.

Gen 25:18They lived from Havilah to Asshur, which is toward Egypt, as far as Shur, and they settled in opposition to all their kinsmen.

During the Exodus, Moses and the Israelites came here after crossing the Red Sea.

Ex 15:22Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the Shur Desert. For three days they walked in the desert without finding water.
