He was the palace administrator during the reign of Ahaz, king of Judah. When Ahaz sinned against God, he was invaded by Pekah, king of Northern Israel. At that time, he was killed by Zichri, a commander under Pekah.
2 Chr 28:6For he had forsaken the Lord, the God of his fathers. Pekah son of Remaliah killed 120,000 valiant men in Judah in one day,2 Chr 28:7and Zichri, a mighty warrior of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the palace administrator, and Elkanah the second in command to the king.
