Rabshakeh is the title of a high-ranking official, a close confidant of the king, in the Assyrian Empire. In the Bible, he appears as a general of King Sennacherib when he invades Judah, the kingdom of Hezekiah (King of Judah).

Isaiah 36:2And the king of Assyria sent the Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem with a great army to King Hezekiah. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Fuller’s Field.

He demands surrender in front of the city of Jerusalem and speaks insulting words.

Isaiah 36:4And the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: “What is this confidence in which you trust?
Isaiah 36:11Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to the Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it. Do not speak to us in the language of Judah in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”Isaiah 36:12But the Rabshakeh said, “Has my master sent me to speak these words to your master and to you alone? Has he not sent me to the men who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?”Isaiah 36:13Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out in a loud voice in the language of Judah: “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!

After this, through the prophet Isaiah, it is proclaimed that God will deliver them, and God intervenes, causing a large number of the Assyrian army to be killed and to withdraw.

Isaiah 37:37Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went home and lived at Nineveh.
