📍Zoar

Place

Zoar is a biblical place name, a region located on the border of the Jordan in the land of Canaan.

Gen 13:10Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

This land was also called Bela. It was a very fertile region in ancient Palestine and was one of the main areas involved in the power struggles that occurred during Abraham's time.

Gen 14:8Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and drew up their battle lines in the Valley of Siddim

It was also the region where Lot temporarily took refuge when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.
