Esther 1:10On the seventh day, when King Ahasuerus was in high spirits from wine, he commanded the seven eunuchs who served him—Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas—Esther 1:11to bring Queen Vashti before him, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and the nobles, for she was lovely to behold.Esther 1:12But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command delivered by the eunuchs. Then the king became furious, and his anger burned within him.Esther 1:13Since it was customary for the king to consult experts in matters of law and justice, he spoke with the wise men who understood the times.Esther 1:14Those closest to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven nobles of Persia and Media who had special access to the king and ranked highest in the kingdom.
