Media (Medes) was one of the empires that ruled the ancient Near East. It was an empire that destroyed Babylon and was absorbed by Persia. It is also called the Median Empire. ## The Median Empire was founded by the descendants of Madai, the son of Japheth, one of Noah's three sons.
