📍Gerar

Place

A plain located within the Canaan region.

Gen 10:19The border of Canaan extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, as far as Lasha.

The king who ruled this region was named Abimelech. During the times of Abraham and Isaac, they both stayed in this region, and each time, Abimelech took Abraham's wife Sarah and Isaac's wife Rebekah.

Gen 20:1From there Abraham moved on to the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur; he stayed for a time in Gerar.Gen 20:2And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” So Abimelech king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.Gen 20:3But God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”
Gen 26:1Now there was a famine in the land—besides the earlier famine of Abraham’s time—and Isaac went to Gerar to Abimelech king of the Philistines.
Gen 26:6So Isaac stayed in Gerar.

Later, King Asa fought the Cushite army here.

2 Chr 14:13Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were annihilated before the Lord and his army. The people of Judah carried off a great deal of plunder.2 Chr 14:14They attacked all the towns around Gerar, for the terror of the Lord had fallen on them. They plundered all these towns, since there was much booty.
