A city in the southern region of Judah. When David was wandering with his men, they were attacked by the Amalekites, and their families and possessions were taken.

David, strengthened by God, recovered them and then distributed the spoils of war to various cities in the region of Judah, and this city was included among them.

1 Sam 30:26When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the spoil to his friends the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord,”1 Sam 30:27to those in Bethel, to those in Ramoth of the Negeb, to those in Jattir,1 Sam 30:28to those in Aroer, to those in Siphmoth, to those in Eshtemoa,1 Sam 30:29to those in Racal, to those in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, to those in the cities of the Kenites,1 Sam 30:30to those in Hormah, to those in Bor-ashan, to those in Athach,Hebron, and to all the places where David and his men had roamed.
