David maintained good relations with the people of Judah during his time fleeing from King Saul. It was one of the places where he shared the plunder taken from other foreign peoples.
1 Sam 30:26When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a present for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”1 Sam 30:27He sent it to those in Bethel, to those in Ramoth of the Negev, to those in Jattir,1 Sam 30:28to those in Aroer, to those in Siphmoth, to those in Eshtemoa,1 Sam 30:29to those in Racal, to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites, to those in the towns of the Kenites,1 Sam 30:30to those in Hormah, to those in Bor-ashan, to those in Athach,1 Sam 30:31to those in Hebron and to all the other places where David and his men had roamed.
