Salome is presumed to be the mother of the sons of Zebedee (James and John), that is, Zebedee's wife.

The Bible records that the mother of James and John came to Jesus, pleading for them to have prominent positions later.

Matthew 20:20Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.Matthew 20:21“What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”Matthew 20:22“You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.Matthew 20:23Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”

Later, in the account of Jesus being crucified, the mother of the sons of Zebedee is presumed to be Salome.

Matthew 27:55Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to look after his needs.Matthew 27:56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
Mark 15:40Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and Joses, and Salome.Mark 15:41In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.

According to the Gospel of John, she may also have been the sister of Mary, Jesus' physical mother.

John 19:25Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
