📌Shemaiah (Son of Adonikam)

One of the people who came to Jerusalem with Ezra (the Scribe). When Ezra (the Scribe) returned to Jerusalem and found no Levites, he sent chiefs, or leaders, to find the Nethinim, and Shemaiah was one of those chiefs.

Ezra 8:13Of the last sons of Adonikam, their names were Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah, and with them were sixty men.Ezra 8:14Of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zaccur, and with them were seventy men.Ezra 8:15I gathered them by the river that flows to Ahava, and there we camped for three days. When I examined the people and the priests, I found no Levites among them.Ezra 8:16So I sent for all the chiefs: Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elhanan, Jarib, Elhanan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, and also for the discerning men Joiarib and Elhanan.
